From the end of October, every new Booming Games slot in Ontario will be certified at a 93.5% return to player, and 12 existing titles get replacement builds at the same rate. Game names, IDs and lobby art stay the same, so the change won't be obvious from the lobby.

Slot studio Booming Games will certify a single return-to-player (RTP) rate of 93.5% for its games in Ontario from the end of October 2026. Every new Booming Games release in the province will use that rate, and 12 existing titles will be recertified and replaced with 93.5% builds. The studio announced the change in a press release titled "Introducing Ontario's New RTP Certification".

According to the release as reported, Ontario partners asked for a lower RTP band that suits their commercial models. The rate will be certified by the studio itself rather than switched through a setting on the operator's side, so there is one approved version of each game for the market. Operators need no integration work: Booming Games supplies new certification documents and replacement builds, and the game IDs and lobby assets stay the same.

LCB, which reported the release, says each replacement takes the place of its 96% predecessor, leaving the 93.5% version as the only edition of that game in Ontario.

What 93.5% means in practice

RTP is the share of all money staked on a game that it is designed to pay back over a very large number of spins. It is a long-run average, not a prediction for any one session. At 93.5%, the game's theoretical margin is 6.5% of stakes; at 96%, it is 4%. By our arithmetic, for every 1,000 units staked over the long run, the 93.5% version is designed to keep about 65 rather than about 40. Short sessions can land far above or below either figure.

The practical point for players in Ontario is that the name, the artwork and the place in the lobby stay the same, so a recertified game will look exactly like the one you played before. The way to know which version you have is to open the game's information or help screen and check the RTP stated there. The change applies to Booming Games titles in Ontario only.

Booming Games and the AGCO

Booming Games is a registered supplier in Ontario's regulated market. On 20 August 2026, the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) ordered C$70,000 in penalties against Booming Games (Malta) Limited after prohibited auto-play was available to Ontario players on several of its slots for months. That case is separate from the RTP change, which the studio attributes to requests from its Ontario partners.
