Fanatics makes NFL and NBA prop injury cover full-game

Fanatics now voids eligible NFL and NBA player props when the player leaves injured at any point in the game, at no fee. Before halftime the refund is made on the spot; after halftime it comes back as FanCash.
Fanatics Sports & Casino has extended its player injury protection to the whole game. Under what it calls the FAIR PLAY Max Pledge, announced in New York on 19 October 2026, an eligible NFL or NBA player prop is voided if the player leaves injured and does not return, whether that happens in the first quarter or the fourth. There is no fee, no token and no opt-in, and Fanatics says it applies to every customer for the whole season.
A player prop is a bet on one player's own numbers, such as points, rebounds or receiving yards, rather than on the game result. That is why injury cover matters here: a bet on a player reaching a number can lose simply because he left the game.

How the refund is paid
The detail worth reading is how the money comes back. On a single bet, the stake is returned. On a parlay (several bets combined into one slip), only the injured player's leg is voided and the remaining legs keep playing.
The timing decides the form of the refund:
- Injury before halftime: the refund happens on the spot.
- Injury after halftime: the refund comes back as FanCash once the game is final. On a parlay with legs still to play, FanCash is credited once every leg has settled.
FanCash is Fanatics' rewards currency. According to the release, it can be spent on merchandise, trading cards, game tickets, at Lids and on further bets. That is useful if you shop or bet with Fanatics anyway, but it is not the same as cash back in your balance. For the rules, Fanatics points to the app: "FanCash terms apply - see app for details." The release covers "every eligible player prop bet" without listing which props are eligible. If the difference between a first-half and a second-half refund matters to you, read those app terms before you rely on the cover.
Fanatics' claims
Fanatics says it ran the first player injury protection programme in 2024 and that it is now "the only sportsbook" to guarantee full-game prop protection at no charge all season; elsewhere, it says, protection costs extra or ends at halftime. Those are the company's claims. "We were the first in the industry to launch player injury protection with FAIR PLAY, and now we're the first to cover the whole game at no charge to the customer," said Ted Moss, President, Sportsbook at Fanatics Betting and Gaming.
Injury cover changes what happens to a bet that was effectively decided by bad luck. It does not change the odds or the house edge on props, and it is no reason to bet more. It sits alongside other recent changes to US betting terms: the NBA has told its partner sportsbooks to drop opening-tip bets and same-player under parlays, and FanDuel has brought back its 50-cent fee on smaller Illinois bets.
