Lithuania’s Gambling Supervisory Authority ordered ISPs and payment firms to cut off Polymarket after classifying its sports markets as unlicensed betting.

Lithuania’s LPT blocks Polymarket as unlicensed remote gambling

Lithuania’s Gambling Supervisory Authority (LPT) has ordered internet service providers to block Polymarket and instructed payment service providers to stop processing transactions with Adventure One QSS, Inc., the company trade desks name as the platform’s operator. The Vilnius Regional Administrative Court approved the order. The LPT’s announcement is dated 17 September 2026; European trade desks carried the story on 18 September.

It is the first time the Lithuanian regulator has moved against a prediction-market platform. Desk coverage puts the country’s blocked illegal remote-gambling site list at 2,204 after the addition.

How the regulator classified the product

According to theiGaming.eu’s summary of the investigation (also reported via Gaming Intelligence), LPT investigators opened and funded an account on Polymarket and placed fixed-odds bets on sporting events. On that basis the authority treated the activity as betting, which Lithuanian law reserves for locally licensed operators.

GamblingNews quotes the LPT stating that although the site described a “prediction market” where participants trade outcomes with each other, the investigation “identified signs of gambling – betting.” The regulator framed the order as stopping an attempt to circumvent restrictions on illegal remote gambling.

Two-channel block

The measure works on access and payments: ISPs must restrict the website from Lithuania, and payment providers must end transactions with Adventure One QSS. At theiGaming’s time of writing, Polymarket had not commented publicly on the Lithuanian decision.

Trade desks place Lithuania alongside other European restrictions on Polymarket (including France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain, with Denmark also cited by GamblingNews). Those earlier moves are context for the perimeter, not new findings in this note.

Why it matters for vault readers

This is an access and payments enforcement story: a national gambling authority testing a prediction-market sports book and cutting both the site and the payment path. It does not invent a worldwide shutdown, change Vault house terms, or invent operator claim URLs.
