Money Train 5: Max Win, Ultra Mode and How the Bonus Works

Money Train 5 is live. Relax Gaming launched it on 24 September 2026 across what the studio calls its “global operator network”. Which casinos carry it, and which version they load, varies by operator and market.

The headline number went down. Money Train 4 advertises a 150,000× maximum win. Money Train 5 splits into two modes: Standard caps at 50,000× the bet and Ultra at 100,000×. That was a deliberate choice. Relax’s Oscar Persson says the team decided against going to 200,000× because of what a higher cap would do to every bonus round that doesn’t reach it. The effort went into a new bonus instead: ticket symbols move the train through stations, and each station changes what the round can do.

Key facts

Relax prints no RTP for Money Train 5 on its product page or in its announcements. BigWinBoard, AboutSlots, Casino Guru and SlotCatalog give 96.10% as the default, with lower versions down to 86%, so check the game’s info panel at your casino to see which version it runs (why studio and lobby RTP can differ).

Standard vs Ultra

Ultra is not a separate game. “The main difference is mathematical,” Persson says. The characters, the station progression and the features are the same in both modes. Ultra gives “a more extreme mathematical profile with a higher ceiling”, and Standard suits players who want to reach the bonus more often. The mode you pick also applies to bonus buys.

The €1 million ceiling

Doubling the cap does not double the money. On Relax’s own figures, Standard’s ceiling at its top stake is 50,000 × €20 = €1,000,000. Ultra’s is 100,000 × €10 = €1,000,000. Ultra gets there with a larger multiplier on a smaller maximum bet.

The same sum holds across the series. The first four games raised the advertised cap from 20,000× to 150,000×, while Relax lowered the top stake each time. At maximum stake, every Money Train comes out at €1 million, except Money Train 4 at €900,000.

These are ceilings at the studio’s maximum stake, not amounts anyone should expect to win. Many operators and markets set a lower maximum bet, and a cap only tells you where the game stops paying. It says nothing about how often a round gets close. Persson frames the cap decision the same way. Asked why the cap didn’t climb again, he asks “what does that do to all the other bonus rounds where you are not winning it?”

How the bonus works

Relax’s description is short. Three or more bonus symbols start the round, and each one adds a multiplier and three spins. New symbols reset the spins. Ticket symbols push the train forward through stations. The step-by-step detail below comes from the game rules as reported by BigWinBoard, AboutSlots, Fruity Slots and CasinoGuide.se, which agree on the station numbers.

1. The round opens. Bonus symbols land with values of 1× to 10× the bet and stay in place. Any new symbol resets the spin counter to three. The round ends when the counter runs out.
2. Characters act on each other. The Collector gathers the visible values. The Payer adds its value to every other symbol. The Sniper doubles three to eight symbols and can hit the same one twice. The Collector-Payer takes from several targets, then pays the new total back. The Absorber removes ordinary bonus symbols. The Arms Dealer turns one to four bonus symbols into features, and the Necromancer revives one or two spent features.
3. Tickets move the train. Tickets always act last. The number on a ticket is how many steps the reels shift from right to left. Each reel that leaves the grid moves the train one station forward and adds that reel’s total value to your win. You keep the value, but the symbols on that reel are gone, including a persistent one that was doing the work.
4. Stations unlock upgrades. At station 5, persistent symbols can land. These versions of the Collector, Payer, Sniper, Collector-Payer, Necromancer, Arms Dealer and Bomber repeat their effect every spin. Station 10 adds an extra row, taking the grid to 5×5. At station 15, the Bomber and Pyromancer can land. Station 20 activates the Permanent Payer.
5. The new characters. The Ticket Master adds the total win to all other symbols and always applies one ticket (Persson calls it “a fun new take on the Collector/Payer concept”). The Bomber multiplies every value by 2× to 5×. The Pyromancer leaves a fixed hot zone, and features inside it become persistent while bonus values landing in or moving into it are doubled. The Permanent Payer sits outside the grid, so shifting reels don’t remove it. It is boosted only by the first effect of a new Payer, not by copies from the Necromancer or Arms Dealer.

In the base game, a Nuclear Wild can trigger on any spin, lock onto reels and turn them into full wild reels. Persson says the bombs can make up to five reels fully wild.

The station system is the real change in this sequel. Persson says moving reels were added so bonuses would stop hitting “an inevitable wall” and would change as they went. Leah Neutel, head of Relax’s Malmö studio, gave the design aim in her interview with Chipy: “The aim is for the player to feel that progression, that the further the journey goes, the more is at stake.” Relax publishes no probabilities for reaching any station.

Bonus buys

Relax confirms “multiple Buy Feature options” but doesn’t list prices. BigWinBoard, AboutSlots and CasinoGuide.se report the same six options in a menu called Super Charge. Some regulated markets remove bonus buys, so the menu may be missing at your casino.

There is also Enhanced Spins, an ante that costs 1.5× the stake and raises the chance of triggering the bonus. Reviewers disagree on how much it helps: BigWinBoard and Fruity Slots describe it as more than doubling the chance, while CasinoGuide.se says more than 50%.

The Super buys are the expensive way into the round’s later stations, because a round bought at station 15 starts with the Bomber and Pyromancer already available. That is a higher price for a later starting point, not a better chance of the cap. Money Train 5 vs Money Train 4

Money Train 4 was sold as the end of the series. Relax’s July 2023 tease called it the final instalment and “The Last Stand”, and called 150,000× a record for a Relax title. Asked whether Money Train 5 is the last one, Persson answered “we’ve learned our lesson”.

Relax’s own language changed between the announcement and the launch. In June, Relax’s Martin Stålros promised something “bigger, riskier and more unpredictable”. The 24 September launch note drops “bigger” and speaks of “greater risk and unpredictability than ever before”. That fits the numbers: on the advertised maximum, Money Train 5 is smaller than Money Train 4 in both modes. Two review sites noticed too. AboutSlots says the cap dropped to the Money Train 3 level, and BigWinBoard says it eases back.

Our assessment

Money Train 5 swaps a bigger cap for a bonus with more stages. That is a reasonable trade, and Relax has explained it plainly. A round that reaches station 15 offers different tools from one stuck at station 2, and you can see the difference as it happens.

The trade has a cost. Tickets move the round forward by removing reels, so the persistent symbol that was building your total can be the next one off the grid. The strongest characters only arrive after the train has travelled, which makes a short round harsher.

The lower cap is not a safety feature. Standard’s 50,000× is still a ceiling on a high-volatility game, and nothing published tells you how often either mode pays well. 18+. Play for entertainment with money you can afford to lose. If it stops being fun, stop, and see responsible play.
