How Book of Dead plays

Five reels, three rows, ten lines. The explorer substitutes as a wild. The book is both scatter and wild. Three or more books start ten free spins and choose one ordinary picture as the special for that round. After regular line pays, that special can expand to cover its reel — only when the expand can pay an extra line. Expanded specials do not need to sit next to each other. Three or more further books during the round add another ten spins.

Ten-of-a-kind is rare. Empty spins are normal on a high-volatility file. That is how the game is built, not a defect.

Published specifications

Play’n GO released Book of Dead on 14 January 2016. Studio default RTP is 96.21%. Volatility is high. Printed ceiling 5,000× — a cap, not a typical session. Operators can load a lower RTP file. Assessment

High volatility here means long stretches of empty spins are expected, then occasional larger line hits when the special expands. The 5,000× ceiling is a published maximum, not a reason to treat the game as a payout plan. Compared with a lower-volatility title such as Starburst, Book of Dead pays less often and in lumpier amounts. That is the risk profile, not a method for finishing a bonus.

Bonus restrictions

Book titles usually contribute 100% toward wagering. That weighting does not make the expand a reliable way to finish a bonus and withdraw. A large remaining playthrough can be expensive to clear on this file because wins are infrequent. Stay under the house max bet. The original file has no bonus buy. Raising the stake to hunt the feature is a common way bonuses get voided.
